Random thoughts and pictures from the week...

This has been a busy and snowy week!

We are currently working on Grace's Christmas present, which is a brand new big girl room! She got to pick out the paint color, new blankets and sheets, a rug to match, pictures for the walls, the whole thing! We have been working on it pretty much every night and Pat's dad is here for the weekend to help us put some of the finishing touches on and refinish the wood floors.

Listening to Pat and his dad while the do home improvement projects cracks me up! As I am typing, I can hear the two of them going back and forth on how to cut molding, who should do what, and what they should do next. They are like the odd couple when it comes to home improvement. Pat's dad is the perfectionist and Pat has the attitude lets just get it done!

They have fun the whole time, even when arguing, and it made me reflect on how lucky we both are to be so close to both sets of our parents.

I talk to my mom daily, just to check in, say hi, and catch up on any new gossip. She is one of my best friends, the first person I call when something big happens to me. My dad is not a big phone person but I love it when he is the one to answer the phone. I love hearing his stories about hunting, what is going on at the campground, and he is always excited to hear new Gracie stories. They are amazing parents, still to this day, and amazing grandparents to Gracie!

Pat and his dad are extremely close and I would say Tom is probably Pat's best friend. When Pat was trying to decide who he wanted as a best man in his wedding, his dad and brother were his top two choices. His dad was busy being Father of the Groom but I think it says a lot that Pat thought of him. They love so many of the same things, fishing, being outside, going on canoe trips, basically all outdoor adventures. Pat's mom is his biggest fan and support person. She is always the one making sure we are healthy or sending that sweet card to make us smile when we need it. They are also amazing parents and grandparents and we are lucky to have them.

This got really mushy quick but I sometimes think it is good to reflect on what is good in your life when others things are not going perfect. You have to take the bad with the good, but if you really look hard, the good always outweighs the bad in life.

Now, enough mushiness, on to some fun pictures! Just some random shots from the week, enjoy and have a great weekend!
