The first trip happened last night after Pat and I noticed that Grace's left foot was very swollen, red, and hot to touch. Yes, that is right, we made another visit to the doctor's office, and trust me, we were all not very happy to go! We were at Urgent Care for about 2 hours, while they looked at, poked, and then took x-rays of Grace's foot to see if it was broken. She was in no pain, was extremely happy (even though it was 2 hours past her bedtime), and enjoyed playing with the nurses and doctor. The x-ray showed that Grace's foot was not broken, so since her leg was also becoming red and swollen, they decided she must have been bit or stung by something. She got a shot in her leg of steroids (that ended the good mood I was talking about earlier!) and we were told to give her Children's Benadryl every 4-6 hours. Luckily, we woke up this morning and the swelling was gone from her leg and her foot looks a lot better, even though it is still swollen- I swear, this kid has the worst case of bad luck right now, lets hope this is it and she has a good stretch of health. The way things are going right now, the doctors and nurses from our practice will be invited to Grace's 1st birthday party since they know her so well!
The second road trip was way more fun- we went to Okemos today to meet Uncle Jim, Aunt Mary, and Matthew for a little lunch and some shopping at the mall. We had a great time with them and it was so nice to get to spend some time with them. Grace was a little out of it, we think because of the Benadryl, but stayed awake for the whole 4 hour visit, and then crashed on the way home for a long nap! Here are a couple pictures from our road trip:
