He has this "dad" thing down

Pat really has the dad thing down. He is good at it. I can't help but smile when I see the him and Grace together. They have this special bond and I am so happy that he is such a hands on dad.

Tonight I really saw once and for all that he is truly superior at parenting. Grace was not happy because it was time to go on in for bed. When he told her it was time to go in, we got the classic answer of "no!" Instead of starting a war, he started walking around singing "I go swimmin".

Now, you may be wondering how this falls under great parenting, but as always with a two year old, you have to hear the whole story. You see, Grace likes to randomly do things, and one of these things is walk around the yard singing "I go swimmin" and pretending to swim. She loves if Pat and I do it with her. I am sure our neighbors think we are crazy but I have to admit it is kind of fun.

So, as Pat was walking around singing this song, Grace started to follow him and do the same thing. He pointed to me and to the door and as I opened the door, Grace and Pat walked right into the house and down the hall to the bedroom. No tears, no sadness, Grace was happy and ready for bed. He gave me a little smile and head nod, as if to say, I got her! Yes, he tricked a 2 year old and was very proud of himself. I am sure the parents of other 2 year olds will agree that he should be proud of himself!
