Thankful

A co-worker of mine at GVSU passed away this past week leaving behind a daughter who is 4 years old and a wife. This whole week the same thought kept passing through my mind, no matter if I am in the car, working out, or laying in bed at night- do I really realize how lucky I really am? The answer is no and I am sad to say that it sometimes takes something like this to happen to really make me realize that life is too short.

In the spirit of Thanksgiving....

--I am thankful for my amazing husband, who has put up with my craziness and has even joined in. We have so much fun, our relationship is filled with laughter and fun. He is a great dad to Grace, I am very lucky.

--I am thankful for my Gracie, is this really her 3rd Thanksgiving, crazy! She is a light in our house that fills it with laughter and sometimes yelling! The age of 2 has been a challenge at times but also my favorite stage so far. She is healthy, happy, and loving- really, is there anything else you could ask for?

--I am thankful for family, all of them, the whole crazy group. Family can sometimes be difficult and make life a little more complicated but the good moments greatly outweigh the bad moments.

--I am very thankful for both sets of our parents. We are so blessed to have parents who care about us and love Grace so much. Seeing them with Grace makes my heart fill with happiness and all of that gooey stuff. They have both been more than happy to take Grace for overnights of fun (including last night!!!) and given us time to refuel and also have alone time.

--I am thankful for my job, where I continue to make friends who are more like family. My job continues to change and keep me on my toes which is a blessing.

Mostly, I am thankful for a healthy family who we are lucky enough to spend the holidays with. As the craziness of Christmas approaches, I am going to try to stop more often and be thankful for the small things. Life is to short.
