First Black Friday

So, I have went shopping on Black Friday before, but I have never went at the crack of dawn to try to get a deal. I just did not get it and always thought people were crazy for doing it. My mom and Pat came up with a plan this year where they were going to get up early to try to get a Tom Tom for my mom and dad. I at first said I in no way was getting up at 4am to go shopping but eventually let myself get sucked into the idea and was up bright and early this morning.

As we drove into the Target parking lot at 5am, I thought for sure I was still dreaming. Or having a nightmare. There was NO WAY that there was a line all around one side of the building and even leading towards the Aldi store next door. There was no way that many people were up so early and standing in the cold to get a deal on something. I must be living under a rock because the same thing happened at every store we went to! It was crazy, so many shoppers, carts piled high with toasters, flat screen tv's, and various other things.

We did score a couple great deals at Meijer and a couple at WalMart but could not brave the line at Target, even when we went back at 7am to see if things had calmed down. So, we did not that $3 toaster or Tom Tom for my mom, but life will go on.

We did get home to find that online WalMart had the same Tom Tom on sale for the same price as in store and free shipping. Ummmm, lesson learned. We will doing some serious online shopping next year to see if we can avoid the masses!
